life is God's temple

  • Jul. 19th, 2008 at 6:15 AM
Master, bless.

The happiness of the person whose will is entirely submitted to God's is constant, unchangeable and endless.
~Father Jean-Baptiste Saint-Jure

The morning is a blessed time of day. The sun is tender, the sky is pale, the birds sing softly, one could say reverently... They are aware that the world is God's sanctuary.

As I gaze at the trees outside my window, I am grateful for the knowledge that all the day's duties are sacred acts of devotion. Like the birds, I am aware that the entirety of my life is spent in the temple and every moment is holy, an offering to the Lord. Even when I wipe the kitchen counter, I am cleaning the altar of God. When I rest, I am reclining beside the still waters.

I once struggled, thinking, Should I be doing this? Should I be doing that instead? Should I be here? Perhaps I should be there? Am I fulfilling the Lord's will? Am I where I am meant to be? Am I doing what I am meant to do?

Now I know that unless I sin, I am doing God's will. To embrace each moment simply, to accept one's circumstances, to obey the promptings and guidance of the Spirit, to accomplish one's appointed tasks, to abstain from worry about tomorrow and sorrow over the past... Such is pleasing to God. Such is detachment, and the source of peace.

There was a time when I viewed my privileges with suspicion, or outright anguish, but now I bow before the Lord's wisdom and desire. I trust that He arranges everything as is best.

Like a bird, I am free from care. More and more, I realize that worrying is a pointless waste of energy and a lack of faith. Why be distressed when it is useless, unnecessary and damaging?

I have found, in fact, that the stronger my longing for the kingdom of God becomes, the more He tailors everything so that it befits me perfectly. All the worrying and planning in the world would not have led me to the serene place where I currently am; I could not have foreseen it. I would not have fathomed God's insight. I would have resisted, balked, argued, suggested alternatives. How unfortunate and futile that would have been.

Thought I was DONE with the damn jet lag. But two days in a row, I've woken up at 1:30 a.m. and not been able to go back to sleep.

Lissa = NOT amused.

Aside from the rain and wind and general ickiness of the weather, Blackpool was fun! I got pictures, yes, of course I did. Fans of the show, did you know that Funny Girls is a real drag club? It is! Photo evidence tells all! *g* I can't upload them until I can manage to get internet access on my laptop, though, I'm afraid.

We also went to the little town where [info]sensiblecat grew up, and I got some lovely pictures of the 750-year-old church there. We had tea and sat and chatted; it was quite lovely.

Tomorrow, [info]loriel_eris comes down from Glasgow; I'm so excited! It'll be a lot of fun. Sunday we're off to Bolton Abbey for the day, and then on Thursday, we hop a train for 3 days, 2 nights in Cardiff. Wheee!

Ok. I'm going to try for some sleep now. Got the jaw-cracking yawns going on, so maybe I can doze off again.

Looking for flowers!

  • Jul. 18th, 2008 at 4:59 PM
Hey all!

I'm starting to redecorate Venice to the best of my ability and one of the things I am working on is a little garden. I have been collecting flowers here and there but still need a lot more. Does anyone have flowers that i can buy from them? Anyone who is open for the next few hours?

-I need specifically any type of red or white flowers. Some blue, purple, pink or odd coloured ones would do well too!

What i will probably end up doing is leaving my gates open tonight while i am at the new batman movie. If anyone has some flowers that they would like to sell or donate feel free to leave a message at my town center bulletin board and i will come buy them a.s.a.p! Anyone else just wanting to come for a visit is totally encouraged!

Usual rules apply: Don't pull flowers or trample them. Don't cut down trees. Write on the bulletin board. Help yourself to fruit. Feel free to fish and bug hunt. Have fun! Come check out the little garden :)

I've left some bells by the garden for anyone who would like to leave flowers and just take the bells now. Hopefully people will abide by that :)

I'll be afds, so please sign the bb if you come over.

Yes, Sierra, I have all of them calling people 'chickbutt'! I always have them calling people 'seitan', and I hope people don't think I just can't spell 'satan'. It's a vegetarian-type thing. :P

Anyway, feel free to come over. Turnip prices are lousy. I have your Lovely items by my house, [info]thejunebug - they're at the right and down by the beach. [info]katu, your items are also by the house. I'm going away for a week tomorrow and I'm not sure about the whole wifi situation, so if you guys could come over today that'd be great!

Title: Handle Them Snakes, the Sequel
Challenge: song (Handle Them Snakes, title only)
Word Count: 100
Note: this is a sequel to yesterday's drabble

He brought many folk to the Lord in America. But Britain - he would know that the Lord had blessed him if his testimony could win over his former people.

And so the flyers advertising the revival appeared in Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley. So many had sinned that he was not surprised by the size of the crowd.

He railed against the Death Eaters, against the secular world. He preached until after moonrise. But it was only after Lupin, unmedicated, meekly bowed his head in submission that the altar call was a success.

The salvation of Wizarding Britain had begun.

Hi, some people may remember me and other will not due to my months of being absent from the community. Real life and the warm weather had caused me to stop playing, I didn't say anything at the time and I'm sorry if anyone was annoyed by it. I'm sure everyone knows about the new Animal Crossing announced this week, it's because of the announcement that I've decided to play again.
I feel like a heel for not playing for months, I'd like to clean my town up and see who's moved in and out. If anyone still has Fleece in OutThere on their roster please keep me, add me if you'd like to play some time- I usually play in the evenings and I'm on est. If you deleted me and would rather not play with a flippant gamer I totally understand.

It's off to bed for me (midnight here, and an early start tomorrow), but just a note to remind you all--PLEASE if you haven't done it, go vote for the final winner for the first round of [info]doctor_rose_las. (And it's VERY strange typing that on a British keyboard; the double-quote key is above the 2, where the @ symbol is on an American keyboard! In fact, they're switched.) Voting closes at 10 pm Central time. Only 2 reunion stories to read, neither of them spoilery for the end of the season. Please, PLEASE! :D

Ok, bedtime for Lissa. Nighty night!

Master, bless.

My most precious ones,

I have just done some gardening, and am currently listening to the most exquisite music I have ever heard: "Bagatellen und Serenaden" by Valentin Silvestrov. It is, quite simply, like the sound of a soul sighing with longing and contentment; the sound of heaven. So soft, so peaceful... Minimalistic piano. The beauty of this music is absolutely beyond description.

It has officially become my all time favorite CD.

Ah! Violin and cello now. Very poignant, mournful, intense... Sublime. Classic Silvestrov. More than that -it is simply the best thing he has ever done. Ah, my goodness. It is making my heart melt. My goodness! I am dying. This music is so lovely that it is almost painful.

A gentle whisper is finished and I shall be proofreading the manuscript over the coming days. Next week, I shall publish the book.

I need to fix myself a nice sandwich... Then I shall sit outside, eat my sandwich and read. I have been spending more time in my garden this year than all previous summers combined, I think. I feel like I have been enjoying a long overdue vacation.

Your devoted
Logospilgrim, the quiet professor
